We’ve been speaking with a lot of our customers from different industries and with different products, to find out about them, how their business came about, and how their Gala Tent Marquee or Gazebo has helped them to promote their brands. Today, we have been chatting with David Viccars of Devon’s Blackingstone Publishing, whose flagship publication is the local-centric Dartmoor Magazine.
Located just outside Morehamptonstead in the Wray Valley on the eastern edge of Dartmoor, Blackingstone Publishing prints and supplies its long-standing principal publication, Dartmoor Magazine, as well as a series of books, cards and other media all about the beautiful national park. The specialist magazine, which is managed by a small editorial and production team, has been around for well over twenty years.
If you’re curious about living and working on Dartmoor, its social and natural history, local legends, the towns and villages of the area, attractions and activities, and the people and organisations who are dedicated to maintaining and supporting the moor, then Dartmoor Magazine has pretty much everything you need and more, four times a year. It is available by subscription, and also sold at a large number of outlets across the Moor and its surrounding areas.
David and his team use a 3m x 3m Gala Shade Pro 50 with green canopy, and a distinctive large format text on the valance, which proudly displays the magazine’s name. The Valance is an ideal placement for business names and other important information, as it sits at head height and therefore in perfect view of potential customers either near or far. David tells us why he chose Gala Tent:
“A simple analyses, done by walking around numerous local shows and events and looking at the gazebos and tents, speaking with the stall-holders who owned them. The unanimous opinion was that Gala Tent produces the robust, long-lasting, attractive and by far and away the best gazebo available. Bearing in mind that much of what we sell is paper, it was very important that what we brought (to shows and events) was weatherproof, solid and dependable, as well as being easy to erect and transport.”
Fantastic glowing words from David, who hits the nail on the head on what we look to achieve with our consistent product development according to the feedback we have received over the years. Does he have any advice for potential customers in a similar boat, looking to improve their brand potential?
“Dartmoor is subject to high wind and rain at any time of the year, thus whatever is purchased must be robust and weather-resistant. Our Gala Tent is indeed that, and on occasion we have seen other structures fly away while we have remained well-grounded! Of course, with this solidity comes weight and the Gala Tent product was more heavy than the others, and also marginally more costly but nonetheless we identified the product as being what we needed and it has performed very well for us.”
Our sincerest thanks to David and the team for their custom and for these lovely words. Whether you’re a resident of the National Park, intending on visiting in the future, or you’re simply interested in the heritage of the area, then go and visit Dartmoor Magazine at the following places:
