What is a Gazebo?
A gazebo is a freestanding, open-sided structure that provides shade and shelter. There are various types of gazebos, including wooden, concrete wrought iron types that may be fixed into the ground, and are sometimes referred to as Pergolas. There are also more transportable varieties, known as pop-up gazebos, which we are looking at on this page.
Also known as an easy-up or instant canopy, these gazebos are recognised for their portability and easy setup. They typically feature a compact frame made from steel or aluminium and a waterproof PVC-coated polyester canopy. They are available in various sizes and colour options, with additional features such as sidewalls, heating and lighting, and printed branding.
Gazebos for Every Budget
Gazebos come in a range of price points, catering to different needs and budgets. Whether you need a gazebo for personal use or for regular commercial applications, there are options available to suit your needs. The entry-level options such as the Gala Shade Pro DX or Gala Shade Pro MX are reasonably priced, while the commercial-grade models of the Pro 40, Pro 50 and Pro 60 feature extra heavy-duty construction to give them an increased durability.
Gazebos for Home and Garden
Gazebos are not just for commercial use. They can also be a great addition to home gardens, providing a sheltered space for outdoor activities. Whether you're hosting a garden party, need a low-cost summer house to relax in the garden during the warmer seasons
Heavy-Duty Gazebos
For frequent commercial use, heavy-duty gazebos offer the required durability. These gazebos are designed to withstand heavy footfall, making them ideal for use in markets, trade shows, at festivals, and motorsport paddocks. They feature technological advancements such as external peak-pole springs that enable the structure to sway with the wind, reducing strain on the joints and extending the lifespan of the gazebo.
Why Choose Gala Tent Gazebos?
Gala Tent has been providing high-quality temporary shelters since 1999. Our range of gazebos is known for its durability and quality, and we have received genuine feedback from customers stating that when a particularly strong gust of wind comes up, it is invariably the Gala Shade range of gazebos that remains standing whilst cheaper and inferior structures will need to be replaced. Whether you're looking for a gazebo for personal use or for commercial purposes, Gala Tent offers a variety of options to suit your needs.

Erecting Gazebos
Setting up a gazebo is usually a simple process, with the scissor-action trusses doing much of the hard work in expanding and flexing to the full size. Most 3m x 3m gazebos can be erected by one person, and lighter model 3m x 4.5m tents are also manageable by one person. However, it's important to follow the instructions to ensure the gazebo is set up correctly, securely and safely. As they are not fixed into the ground like many pergola-style gazebos, it is vital that you use effective anchors to keep it secure. Gala Tent gazebos, for example, are extremely strong shelters, but they are not indestructible

Alternatives to Gazebos
If you’re not certain that it’s a gazebo you need, then you should consider exploring our range of high-quality marquees. A marquee, sometimes known as a Party Tent, takes more time to erect than a gazebo, as it is built from individual components, such as powder-coated steel poles and joints, and robust sidewalls and covers made from PVC. However, what they lack in ease-of-building, they make up for in sheer strength and ability to cover up to hundreds of people, coming in sizes up to a huge 9m x 30m and beyond.
Frequently asked questions for Gazebos:
You can expect to pay anything between £200 and £20,000 for a gazebo, depending on the type and level of structure. However, the pop-up models sold by Gala Tent range from around £200 for a 3m x 3m Gala Shade Pro DX. Expect to pay in the region of £1,500 for a huge 4m x 8m Gala Shade Pro 60, which is renowned as the strongest pop-up gazebo available in the UK.
For a permanent gazebo you will require planning permission if your structure covers more than 10m². However, as a temporary structure, a pop-up gazebo will require no planning, even the 32m² models.
Yes, you can put a pop-up gazebo on your patio, or indeed anywhere else there is the space to accommodate it. Simply ensure it is anchored well with weights or straps to ensure it’s safe and secure during windy conditions.
It is not recommended to leave a gazebo standing all year round, as they are intended for erecting when you need them. There have been instances where customers have left their tents erected all year round and they have seen no problems, but it is recommended that you remove covers during heavy storms, and brush snow away from the canopy during winter months, to prolong the lifetime of your gazebo. Be aware that year-round application of your gazebo will void the warranty. Gala Tent supplies gazebo spare parts next working day, in the event of any accidental damage.
A gazebo is intended to keep sun, rain, snow and wind away from whoever and whatever is in it, which means that the uses for a gazebo are pretty much unlimited. Popular uses include as a garden snug or children’s play space, a promotional or informational tent for businesses, a motorsport awning, market stalls and ticket booths, amongst many other applications. Whatever you need to protect or promote, a gazebo offers great protection.
How you accessorise your gazebo will depend on how you’re using it. If you’re in your garden, then consider lanterns, bunting or other flowing materials to make it feel even more of an inviting space to spend time in. If you’re using your gazebo for business then you might add promotional pieces such as a printed logo or contact information applied to the covers, or branded flags and banners
Pop-up gazebos are incredibly easy to put up. A 3m x 3m gazebo will take only a few minutes to safely erect, especially if two people are erecting it. Adding extras such as sidewalls and anchors will extend this time, but not by much. A 4m x 8m gazebo would need 2-3 people to erect safely, because they are such large frames.
The strongest gazebo available is the Pro 60, which has double reinforced joints and fixings. This is only available in the larger sizes of 3m x 6m and 4m x 8m. The best small gazebo in high winds would be the 3m x 3m Pro 50. However, we strongly recommend that you do not attempt to erect one in winds over around 33mph, for your safety. If the gazebo is already up and strong winds are predicted, we recommend that you remove the covers as a minimum, to avoid any rips. If you are leaving it up, then ensure it is anchored extremely well.
Cheap gazebos, in particular the products you might find on seasonal sale at supermarkets or in large home and hardware shops, are not intended for regular or prolonged use. You may be tempted by low prices, but do not expect them to last very long or have spare parts available to repair your product in the event of damage. By choosing a specialist gazebo supplier such as Gala Tent, your product has been built to last, and spare parts should be available to allow for easy repair in the event of accidental damage, rather than disposal at the local recycling centre.
Yes, you certainly can use a gazebo to shelter your hot tub. It will provide extra privacy and comfort, and enable you to use your hot tub at any time of the year. Many hot tub hirers offer gazebos as an extra item to their customers for this reason. A 3m x 3m gazebo will comfortably cover a standard Lay-Z Spa hot tub. We recommend that you have some non-slip flooring such as Swisstrax Ribtrax beneath or around your hot tub, which will help to avoid accidents.
It is a good question, but one that can be answered by the fact that we have spent over twenty years developing and honing our structures and have grown to become the UK’s leading supplier of quality gazebos we well. We have the UK’s largest stocked warehouse and will dispatch on the same day when orders are placed before 4pm. Simply put, we know what we are doing.
We believe in the old saying that if you buy cheap, you will buy twice. Purchasing a cheap gazebo from a super store may appear like promising idea at the time but considering that the cost dictates the quality of the materials you will receive, and you will be unlikely to have access to a selection of spare parts, it can quickly become a false economy when the gazebo is damaged quickly. By the time you are on your third or fourth tent you may as well have just bought a superior quality one. We have spoken with countless customers who have had this same issue.
Beyond the cost implications, having a cheap gazebo over your head can also be unsafe. Some retailers supply 6m and 9m gazebos with thin poles, and no supporting braces in the roof section, which is carrying the weight of the roof canopy and photo shop can make anything look good when it is NOT!
